â–şWatermarking
Launched, October 2024
Watermarking allows you to automatically add a visual overlay to your presented content and video feeds during a Google Meet call that is unique to each individual participant. This overlay includes the meeting code and the email address of the participant viewing the content, discouraging unauthorised sharing and helping presenters share materials with confidence. Watermarks can be turned on or off by hosts and co-hosts.
â–şTake notes for me
Launched, August 2024
“Take notes for me” lets you use Gemini to automatically capture meeting notes, create action items for attendees, catch up on the discussion if you join late and generate post-meeting summaries, which include discussion points and action items, that can be shared with other participants. It allows you to focus on the conversation, presentations and other in-meeting activities without the distraction of manually capturing what’s being said. Notes are shared in a Google Doc after the call where they can be edited. With the combination of Gemini’s Take notes for me, a meeting transcript and a video recording, you can keep a perfect record of the meeting.
â–şAdaptive audio
Launched, May 2024
Adaptive audio allows teams to use multiple laptops in the same space to join a video call without causing echoes or disruptive audio feedback. It can help create a better audio experience in non-traditional meeting spaces when dedicated meeting rooms and Google Meet Hardware may be unavailable. If Meet detects that there are multiple laptops in a room connecting to the same video call, it switches to adaptive audio mode and combines the microphones and speakers of the laptops.
â–şStudio lighting
Launched for Gemini add-ons, January 2024; coming soon to Google Workspace
Studio lighting brings adjustable settings for lighting position, brightness and colour into Google Meet. These settings can be used to mimic studio-quality lighting so that you can present yourself in the best way possible during a meeting.
â–şStudio sound
Launched for Gemini add-ons, January 2024; coming soon to Google Workspace
Studio sound automatically enhances audio quality from Bluetooth headsets and dial-in participants. It recreates higher audio frequencies to ensure everyone in a meeting can hear you clearly and is automatically applied when Google Meet noise cancellation is enabled.
â–şStudio look
Launched for Gemini add-ons, August 2023; coming soon to Google Workspace
Studio look enhances your visual appearance in meetings by increasing the sharpness of your video and reducing noise. This helps ensure that you are always in focus, even in low-light conditions or when using low-quality webcams.
â–şGenerate a custom background
Launched for Gemini add-ons, August 2023; coming soon to Google Workspace
Express yourself creatively and generate personalised backgrounds for your Google Meet calls, all whilst maintaining the privacy of your surroundings. To create an AI-generated background, give Google a prompt describing what you’d like to see and Gemini will generate several images based on your prompt that can be applied before or during a meeting.
â–şAttend for me
Announced, August 2023
If you’re double-booked or facing an unexpected conflict, you can send Gemini to attend a meeting on your behalf. Add any questions or comments you’d like addressed during the meeting directly to the Google Calendar invitation and Gemini will make them visible to attendees for discussion. After the meeting, you’ll receive a summary document with notes and action items to keep you informed about what you missed.
â–şTranslate for me
Announced, August 2023
With translate for me, Gemini can automatically detect and translate multiple languages spoken during a Google Meet call in real-time. This can be a valuable tool for meetings involving people who speak various languages. Automatic language detection means you don’t need to know what language is being spoken to set the translation; Gemini handles it for you.
â–şDynamic tiles and face detection
Announced, August 2023
The dynamic tiles feature helps ensure that meeting room participants can be seen clearly during a call by analysing the room’s video feed, identifying people’s presence and automatically creating individual, pinnable video tiles for each person in the room. It is compatible with Google Meet Hardware devices and improves individual representation without the need for additional cameras.
Face detection further enhances inclusivity by allowing the names of individual meeting room participants to be displayed on their dynamic video tile. This makes it easier for everyone on the call to know who is speaking.
â–şGemini side panel
Announced, August 2023
Chat with Gemini about your meeting and its content via the Gemini side panel in Google Meet. Ask Gemini questions like “Tell me more about the summary”, “What did Dani say about the launch”, “Find related documents” and much more – all without leaving the meeting window. The Gemini side panel is already available in Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides.
â–şReal-time teleprompter
Announced, August 2023
Whilst presenting in Google Meet, Gemini’s teleprompter follows your voice to guide you through your Google Slides speaker notes in real-time, helping you deliver presentations with confidence.
â–şDynamic layouts
Announced, August 2023
The dynamic layouts feature intelligently adjusts your meeting view. Specifically, the meeting layout automatically changes from a traditional grid view to a more appropriate layout based on the number of participants, the content being shared and the type of device you’re using, ensuring the most optimal viewing experience.
