How to rotate a Google Meet touch panel screen for wall-mounting

Are you wall-mounting a touch panel in a Google Meet kit? You may have noticed that it does not auto-rotate the display when you put it upside down on the wall for mounting. You will need to rotate the screen manually by going into ChromeOS and adjusting the display settings.

💡 Note: the Logitech Tap IP does auto-rotate when it is used in Google Meet appliance mode. If you are deploying an appliance mode solution (i.e. Logitech Rally Bar, Rally Bar Mini or Rally Bar Huddle with a Tap IP), you do not need to make any manual adjustments to the screen orientation.

These instructions apply to the following kits:

*Does not apply to the appliance mode version of these kits, only to the Compute-based versions that include a CTL Compute System.

Rotating the screen

Prerequisites

  • Wired USB keyboard
  • Wired/wireless USB mouse

Steps

  • Plug in the wired USB keyboard
  • Reboot the Compute System
  • Press ctrl+alt+S during startup to go into ChromeOS mode, you will see a sign-in screen
    • If it goes into Meet mode, reboot again and repeat this step
  • Sign into the device with your Google credentials (your normal work username and password)
  • Go to Settings > Device > Displays
  • Click on the Touch Controller
  • Change the orientation to 180°
    • Further information on ChromeOS display settings can be found here
  • Reboot the device
  • It should go into Meet mode with the Touch Controller screen oriented the right way around
