How to update WiFi networks on Google Meet Hardware
If you recently changed the office WiFi network, you may have found that your Google Meet Hardware is no longer connecting to the Internet or to Google servers. Or perhaps you're just anticipating a change to the network and want to be prepared. We've got you covered.
Whilst we would always recommend a wired Ethernet connection where possible, there are plenty of instances where you need to connect via WiFi. Here's how you change your WiFi network on any Compute-based Google Meet Hardware, whether it's ASUS, Logitech, Series One room kits, Board 65 or Desk 27.
There are two methods:
Connecting to a new WiFi network via the Google admin panel
This requires that your Google Meet Hardware devices are currently connected to the Internet. Otherwise, they will not be able to download the new network configuration.
This method is ideal if:
- You manage multiple devices as you can make the change just once and have it be replicated across every managed device at once
- You are able to input new WiFi details before you make the change to the network as it means there'll be no downtime once you make the switch
Follow Google's instructions for configuring a WiFi network via the admin panel.
Reboot the device(s) a few minutes later to make sure they've saved the new WiFi details.
Connecting to a new WiFi network on the device
This is ideal in instances where your device is currently unable to connect to the Internet.
- Connect a USB keyboard to the Google Meet Compute System, Board 65 or Desk 27
- Reboot the Compute System, Board 65 or Desk 27
- Press ctrl+alt+S on the keyboard during startup
- If done correctly, this will take you to a login page
- If you end up back in Google Meet mode, repeat the previous instructions (reboot then press ctrl+alt+S)
- Log in using your normal work Google account
- Connect to the new WiFi network as normal on ChromeOS (instructions can be found here)
- Reboot the Compute System (do not press anything on the keyboard this time) and it should go straight back into Google Meet mode
- It is now connected to the Internet
